Space to Breathe: Study Stations
With the right tools and a proper study schedule, any student has the ability to study effectively. Without the proper environment to study in, however, even the most well-laid schedules will be lost to meager distractions, such as cell phones, computer games, and televisions. Below are a few tips to create an effective, distraction-free study environment.
- 1. Privacy! Distractions come in more forms than phones and social media. A high-traffic location can pull kids out of focus very easily. Look for quiet, out of the way spaces to place a desk or table for your child to study.
- 2. Dedication! If anything on a desk can be used for something other than studying, remove it! Even the merest form of distraction may be enough to pull your child away from his work.
- 3. Schedule breaks! While a proper study environment is crucial, spending too much time there will burn your child out. Ensure that you schedule breaks in between sessions to avoid this!
